Lead Safe Utica addresses lead hazards in privately owned housing using funds awarded to the city of Utica by HUD. This program aims to prevent childhood lead poisoning by creating lead-safe housing and helps homeowners, landlords, and tenants control hazards from lead in paint, soil and dust.

The Lead Safe Program is available for:

  • Owner occupied housing (single & multi family)
  • Rental housing

This program is offered at no cost, however, participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Live in or own property within the city of Utica, built prior to 1978
  • Qualify as a low income household
  • Priority is given to units where a pregnant women resides or a child under 6 years old lives or visits frequently
