Lead Safe Utica is a grant-funded program that helps homeowners, landlords, and tenants reduce lead hazards in privately owned housing. Funded by HUD, this program focuses on protecting children from lead poisoning by addressing lead in paint, dust, and soil.

The Lead Safe Program is available for:

  • Owner occupied housing (single & multi family)
  • Rental housing

This program is offered at no cost, however, participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Live in or own property within the city of Utica, built prior to 1978
  • Qualify as a low income household
  • Priority is given to units where a pregnant women resides or a child under 6 years old lives or visits frequently
