The Cornhill Community for Change (CCC) will be hosting the 15th Annual Mother Lavender Tribute.

Mother Lavender is a Utica Icon who was an Evangelist and comunity acitivist who was born in slavery. She settled in Utica in 1892 with her husbands and sons. The humanitarian efforts of Mother Lavender are legendary. It was her conviction that no one should begin a new year on an empty stomach. Starting in 1900, she hosted New Year’s Day dinner in her home to all who showed up.

The event is FREE and open to the public. Donations will be accpeted.

A traditional Mother Lavender meal consisting of soup and sandwiches will be served.
