Color Your Summer!
Thanks to the proceeds raised from the sale of the Utica Love Coloring Book, the HomeOwnershipCenter (HOC) in partnership with BB Designs and STEAMworks Ability Lab will be hosting a series of free, fun and educational summer events at the Empowerment Center located on 230 James St. in Utica.
What is Utica Love?
Two years ago, Angela Johnson, owner of BB Designs, teamed up with the HOC to collectively come up with creative ways to incorporate art into the community and bring life to the Empowerment Center. By bringing together 20 local artists and 20 local businesses, the Utica Love Coloring Book was born. However, this isn’t just a coloring book. The Utica Love Team wanted to be able to give something more to the community. Through the sale of these one-of-a-kind books, free art programming for youth will now be available this summer! View the schedule below:
“Get Messy” July 17th from 12pm-2pm: Experience various forms of splatter paint techniques
“Print Party” July 31st from 12pm-2pm: Create your own paint prints and solar prints
“’Tie-Dye Day” August 14th from 12pm-2pm: Create all things tie-dye and your own optical illusions
“Family Art Show” August 28th from 4pm-6pm: Show your family all of your awesome creations and enjoy an ice cream social!
*Each day will include light refreshments and snacks. Richelle Maki, the owner of STEAMworks Ability Lab, will also be leading various hands-on building and educational activities during each event.

This summer series is FREE and there is no registration required. If you have any questions please call 315.724.4197 or email home@unhs.org. If you are interested in purchasing the Utica Love Coloring book you may do so by stopping into the HomeOwnershipCenter’s office – 1611 Genesee St. Utica.
